Concept 2 Model D Rower

Best Rowing Machine ReviewsThe Concept 2 Model D is not the latest rower from Concept 2 (that’s the E Model!) but the deal that is currently available on this machine is superb and we seriously believe that the Model D is going to be in the this Rowing Machine Reviews list throughout the year.

If your not familiar with the Concept 2 way of doing things, can we suggest you take a good look at their website. Here you’ll find everything from Training to Online Challenges and you’ll be quite amazed at the community which has been built around this brand.

So about the Rower itself!

Well, the Model D follows a tradition of Concept 2 rowers which are built for one purpose, indoor rowing, and boy does this machine do it well.Best Rowing Machines 2015

The build quality on this Model is as expected, excellent. The functionality with its PM3 monitor compliments the rower nicely and a good selection of standard rowing functions are available as well as some more advanced features such as Games and Heart Rate Monitoring.

But what really makes this machine special is the way it rows!

The Flywheel and Damper on the Concept 2 Model D responds to your effort on every single stroke. It includes a Spiral Damper which lets you adjust the airflow to the flywheel and so mimic the type and effort of rowing you want to achieve. So, with this design you get a smooth feel with minimal noise.

The rowing effect is further maximized by the low profile of the rower with the seat height being just 14 inches.

These machines are well known for their durable construction and this one is no exception. From the chain to the Stainless Steel Monorail, all components on this Concept 2 give you confidence that they were built to last and won’t let you down.

Any negatives?

Let’s be honest, these machines are very hard to beat. They are still used in gyms and fitness centers around the world and could be classed as ‘professional’ indoor rowers.

This quality does come at a cost and normally, you’d be very unlikely to find one of these for under $1000 but this Model D can currently be found at only $900, Click HERE to see more details…

If this isn’t within your budget and you are still interested in trying to find a Concept 2 Model D, then can we suggest a look at the second hand market, where you can ‘occasionally’ find Concept 2’s, if you’re lucky!

Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine with Free Motion Arms

Best Rowing Machines Comparison guideThe Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine is at the number 2 position in the Best Rowing Machine Reviews list because of its very good value for money as an entry level rower.

It is a compact rowing machine that does the job of mimicking the rowing on water feel rather well, something which you sometimes don’t find with hydraulic cylinder rowing machines and the the full range-of-motion also helps to make the rowing action realistic.

You won’t find any complications with the Stamina 1215, it is designed to be simple and to get the job done. The single button monitor displays the usual speed, distance, time, row count, calories burned and miles rowed, you simply jump on and row.

The comfort level is generally good, the seat is padded and fairly thick and the foot plates pivot to react to your workout.

Workout on this rower is controlled by adjusting the hydraulic piston-driven resistance at the bottom of the rowing arms. A big advantageous with hydraulic rowers is the low impact aspect to the workout and because of the relatively simple design, the machines are normally very durable and should last. The Stamina 1215 is no exception and the build quality is considered to be very good.

Any negatives?

Customer feedback for this rower is generally on the very positive side, with a 4-star overall rating for previous customers. A word of caution though, if you’ve never used a hydraulic rower then we suggest you try and use one before buying.

Negative customer feedback has consisted of people who are comparing this rower with more expensive Air Resistance rowers like the Concept range.

To be honest, there is no comparison, they are in different leagues and the cost reflects that. The Stamina 1215 is not meant to be rival for the Concept, but it does represent very good value as a Best Rowing Machine Reviews list rower for less than $400 that is suitable for regular rowers and those that just want to get fit.

Being an excellent entry level rower, the Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine is ideal for those wanting a good rowing machine which has the required functionality for regular rowing and keep fit users.

Stamina Air Power

Buy Rowing MachineAnother great entry level rower here on the Best Rowing Machine Reviews guide, the Stamina Air Rower, and as the name suggests, this one is a wind-resistance rower.

If the Stamina 1215 is not for you, maybe you prefer wind-resistance to the 1215’s hydraulic action, then the Stamina Air Rower is definitely worth a look.

It has the good comfort of the Stamina 1215, a nice padded seat and comfortable rowing action and the footplates are also large enough to accommodate any size user.

The multi-function performance monitor  displays speed, distance, time and calories burned. Again, this Stamina doesn’t do any fancy monitoring like the more professional rowing machines, but it does get the job done.

It has built in wheels for portability and it also folds for quick and easy storage, ideal for anyone thinking about saving space.

Any negatives?

Customer opinion on the Stamina Air Rower is generally very good, to be expected when chosen as one of the best rowers for this year!

There hasn’t been a lot of negative feedback about this Best Rowing Machine Reviews rower but there has been limited feedback about how it might not be suitable for very short people. One particular customer who was 5 ft 2 inches tall, found that the rowing action wasn’t quite ‘catching’ because her arms weren’t long enough.

This is definitely worth considering when thinking of purchasing the Stamina Air Rower. To be fair, the negative comments are minimal for this machine but if you’re in doubt we suggest trying this machine out first before buying.

A good entry level Air Resistance Rower which has good functionally, comfort level and folds for storage and is currently being offered at a great discount with free shipping.

Kettler Kadett

Rowing Machine Reviews

The Kettler Kadett averages 4/5 Stars from 68 customer reviews and is well placed rower on the Best Rowing Machine Reviews list.

This is an ‘outrigger’ style rower which simulates water rowing very realistically and has a good resistance range which should be suitable for most user levels.

The training monitor gives you all the required rowing info including number of strokes, elapsed time, distance and this information is presented both as visual and audio cues.

The build quality of the Kettler Kadett is good, the seat rollers are very smooth operating and are mounted on well designed rails. The foot plates move to give some flexibility when exercising  and the straps are more than adequate to secure your feet completely.

The 12 adjustment settings control resistance through two hydraulic cylinders and these ‘levels’ should be suitable for most people.

Any negatives?

Customer feedback has repeatedly pointed to an aspect of this rower which has got some customers confused, the fact that this is an ‘outrigger’ style rower.

You don’t row one of these like you would a Concept 2 for instance and it’s so important to get the technique right from the off.

Another negative, as perceived by some customers, is how difficult the rower is to assemble. As with some of the other reviews on this page however, we sympathize with these comments but strongly suggest taking time when assembling these machines.

Depending on your level of experience, you might need to set aside the best part of a day to properly assemble, test and get used to your new equipment.

A popular outrigger style rower, the Kettler Kadett has good customer feedback, is solidly built and offers the functionality which should suit most rowers, a great number 4 choice in our Best Rowing Machine Reviews list.

LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 Rowing Machine

Best Rowing Machines Reviews and comparisons

The LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 Rowing Machine is another great rower for our Best Rowing Machine Reviews list.

The RW1000 uses an eddy current drive system which is proven to give a very smooth and quiet rowing action, in-fact, it’s probably one of the most quiet actions available on the market today.

The rower uses a three-LCD display console which shows all the information required, without switching between functions. Here you can view distance, calories, time, strokes and of course, strokes per minute.

The build quality is good and its construction supports users up to 300 lbs.

Comfort on this machine didn’t present any problems either, with foot plates that swivel, a seat which is well molded and hand grips which are padded.

Any negatives?

The LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 Rowing Machine is a good all-rounder when it comes to rowing machines but some customers have reported that there is not enough resistance in this machine to suit the more ‘experienced’ rower, we tend to agree.

Whilst the LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 is an excellent rowing machine for anyone wanting to get fit, keep fit or just have a general row, for the more serious there is only one way to go, Concept 2!

Not to be dismissed though, the LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 Rowing Machine has scored 4 out of 5 Stars from previous customers and for some, this machine is perfect and continues to have a well deserved place on the Best Rowing Machine Reviews list.

A good overall rower, the LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 Rowing Machine  has some good features that will suit a lot of people, but is especially suited for the general user who just wants a comfortable and quiet rowing machine.
